Balls La Liga preview
Here’s the Balls weekly La Liga preview, this time focusing on week four.

Resultados – Results

3 games played, 3 wins, 6 goals scored, 0 conceded, you could say Barcelona are off to a pretty efficient start. All 3 results were decent quality also. Elche were always going to play their little socks off in their first game, against the big guns. Villareal had won 7 games in all competitions in a row, and Athletic Bilbao are never an easy encounter. Fascinatingly, meanwhile, Real Madrid are enduring a horrific start that is going to start costing people their jobs soon enough. Losing to Atletico Madrid was bad, losing at home to their bitter rivals is almost unacceptable. Surely Real will set the ship straight soon, but if they don’t keep an eye out for some dramatic moves. Valencia and Sevilla kept their mutual decent starts going with 2 relatively easy home wins. Can they mount a challenge to the top 3? Early results would suggest so.

There were some cracking goals in round 3, here are 5 of the best.

Here are all the results from week three in La Liga

Esta semana los juegos – This weeks games

The strong La Liga coverage in Ireland and the UK continues with 6 live games on Sky. Real Madrid face a bit of a do-or-die away to Espanyol. Losing would be unthinkable, not only as it would be 3 on the trot, but also because it would knock them further adrift in the title race. Valencia and Sevilla will fancy their chances of continuing their drive toward the top against Getafe and Cordoba respectively. Meanwhile Atletico should take advantage of their boisterous home crowd to slip past Celta, and Barcelona will be hoping to fill their boots against Levante.

Here is the full week 4 fixture list.

Picos y valles – Peaks and valleys

During the season we’re going to bring you updates on teams that are on a roll and of course, teams that can’t tie their own shoe lace. Use this information as you see fit.

As we mentioned earlier Barcelona have gone 3 games in a row without conceding even one goal. There’s a pretty good chance that streak will continue this weekend against terrible Levante. Much of this run of clean sheets is down to the brilliance of Claudio Bravo. He’s a solidifying, consistent force at the back. You could argue Barcelona have lacked that for a long time.

Algo para el fin de semana, Sir? – Something for the weekend, Sir?

Throughout the season we’re going to bring you a look at three bets we particularly like. Last week we went 3 for 3, hopefully we can keep the good times rolling in week four!

  1. Barce/Barce HT/FT 4/7 –  Buried at the foot of the table, Levante are not going to trouble Barcelona. Not with Neymar back, and banging in goals too. Levante aren’t scoring either, so 1 or 2 in the first half for Barce should crush their lowly hosts spirits.
  2. Over 3.5 goals 11/10 Depor v Real – Both Depor and Real are scoring (and conceding!) plenty of goals. No reason this should stop when they meet this weekend. Madrid are great going forward, and absolutely awful at the back.
  3. Valencia to beat Getafe evens – Poor Getafe had to face Sevilla last week and progressive sorts Valencia this weekend. The visitors are off to a super start and are very much capable of performing a 3-points smash and grab.

Last week’s results

  1. Over 2.5 goals Real Madrid v Atletico Madrid 10/11 – Winner!
  2. Valencia to beat Espanyol 8/13 – Winner!
  3. Sevilla to beat Getafe 1/2  Winner!

Our results so far – 5 wins 1 loss.

Disfruta de los juegos !! (Enjoy the games!!)
