German newspaper Bild are today featuring an interview with Bayern Munich and Germany star Thomas Muller.

Manchester United have been linked with every single player in World football this summer, but it turns out there was an actual legitimate offer on the table for Thomas Muller, who new boss Louis Van Gaal spoke highly of during the World Cup.

When asked about an offer from United, Muller responded:

Of course, I was aware that I could theoretically earn more with a transfer. The sums that were standing by foreign clubs in the room were already astronomical. I can only say, for me, a change was never really an issue anyway. FC Bayern is my club.

I don’t think anyone expected him to leave Bayern, but another high profile snub in a summer of disappointment for Man United fans will add to the frustration at the lack of a big name signing.

UPDATE: A spokesperson from Man Utd has since denied suggestions that they have bid for Muller or his Germany teammate Marco Reus.
