The Balls La Liga Preview – Week Three Cormac Eklof Barcelona, Football, Real Madrid Here’s the Balls weekly La Liga preview, this time focusing on week three. Resultados – Results There’s no doubt about the result of the week, Real Sociedad’s terrific 4-2 come-back win over Real Madrid. We covered it already in depth last week, suffice to say Madrid’s defending was lacking. The shock of that result still resonates, and Madrid are going to need a big few weeks to recover fully. Barcelona got the 3 points they wanted, just, against plucky Villarreal. The hosts had a superb 7 game all competition winning streak broken by the Catalans. In that context, it wasn’t a terrible away result for Barcelona. Particularly again when you consider what happened to Madrid. One of the other stand out results was Atletico Madrid’s 2-1 win over plucky little Eibar. The visitors played some great football, and scored a terrific goal too. Madrid had to really sweat to get the 3 points. It’s early days, yes, but Eibar look absolutely capable of staying in the top flight. Astoundingly, all but 2 of those are live on Sky Sports 5. This speaks to the incredible popularity of La Liga and also the massive increase if televised football available to fans Worldwide. Barcelona hosting Bilbao has to be one of the highlights. The Catalan giants are going to wear special jerseys in the Catalan colours for the game. Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid must be getting a little sick of the sight of each other and often when this happens, too many games in a short space against a hated rival, the sparks fly. It’s a bit surprising the Celta Vigo v Real Sociedad game isn’t on the box, as it should be pretty good and pretty much every other game is on! Nevermind, we shouldn’t be too greedy! La Coruna Picos y valles – Peaks and valleys During the season we’re going to bring you updates on teams that are on a roll and of course, teams that can’t tie their own shoe lace. Use this information as you see fit. Two games into the season and Levante haven’t even scored a goal yet. Two miserable losses, no goals scored. They’ve managed to concede 5, mind you. Next up? Malaga, who have only managed a single goal themselves. It’s live on the TV 5pm Saturday but if it ends up 0-0, don’t say we didn’t warn you! Algo para el fin de semana, Sir? – Something for the weekend, Sir? Throughout the season we’re going to bring you a look at three bets we particularly like, and one we absolutely love. Over 2.5 goals Real Madrid v Atletico Madrid 10/11 – So, we’ve all seen Real Madrid play defence, right? They are simply awful at the back, and Atletico can grab a couple. Of course, Ronaldo and the gang will chip in a couple too, all in all over 2.5 at such good odds seems like a steal. Valencia to beat Espanyol 8/13 – Valencia are off to a decent start whilst the visitors, Espanyol, have stuttered. Sevilla to beat Getafe 1/2 – Sevilla, at home, should make short work of Getafe, who do not travel well. Feel free to stick Sevilla and indeed Valencia in your weekend accumulators. Last week’s results Athletic Bilbao -1 (Evens) Winner – Bilbao win 3-0 – We were right; ”Athletic will be angry at their opening result (losing 0-1 to Malaga in a surprisingly flat display), and Levante were easily beaten at home by Villarreal”. This match did exactly what it said it would do on the tin. Celta Vigo to win (5/4) – Loss – 1-1 draw. Celta had 60% of the possession and almost double the shots their hosts had, but Cordoba held on for the point. Valencia v Malaga over 2.5 goals (8/11) – Winner – 3-0. Enough said. Our results so far – 2 wins 1 loss. We;re inching towards Europe. Disfruta de los juegos !! (Enjoy the games!!) Leave a Reply Cancel ReplyYou must be logged in to post a comment.
